2004 IgNobel Prizes

[Thanks Jérôme]
The winners (if we can say that) of IgNobel 2004 Prizes have been published on the official website.
IgNobel are been given to persons whose work powered science and knowledge in a way that.. er... let's see...
Ok. Here are my favorites:

  • Steven Stack et James Gundlach, publised an article entitled: The Effect of Country Music on Suicide. - I knew it! I knew it!
  • Jillian Clarke, for investigating the scientific validity of the Five-Second Rule about whether it's safe to eat food that's been dropped on the floor.
  • Daniel Simons et Christopher Chabris, demonstrating that when people pay close attention to something, it's all too easy to overlook anything else -- even a man in a gorilla suit.
  • The Vatican, for outsourcing prayers to India. (widely spread in USA companies, outsourcing to India is a overplayed joke theme in IT world)
  • And an study involving canadian, scottish, danish and swedish scientists, concluding that herrings apparently communicate by farting. Well... human beings, you know... never mind.
